The Kansas City Business Rights Coalition is dedicated to protecting the rights of small business owners and supporting laws that treat all businesses equally. Our group represents over 200 businesses and thousands of employees.
On April 8, the voters of Kansas City will be voting on Question 3, a smoking law that permits smoking in casinos, but bans it in bars. Kansas City already bans smoking in most public places, and a new ban on smoking in restaurants goes into effect this month.
Question 3 is looking to replace a law that works with one that gives an unfair competitive advantage to large corporate casinos at the expense of small businesses like bars. We don’t need new law to ban smoking in bars, because customers can vote with their feet and go to a non-smoking bar if that is what they prefer. Question 3 is a step in the wrong direction.
Please join us in voting No on Question 3.
